How it all began with a heartfelt wish

My name is Christina – I used to be a tax consultant at a large firm. I've always been creative , but I lacked the courage to pursue this path for a long time.

When our daughters Livia and Lea were born, I took immense joy in decorating their nursery. However, I couldn't find any wall decals that were timeless , gentle , and safe . Everything was too garish, made of vinyl , and contained plasticizers , which we didn't want in a child's room .

That's how the idea came about to do it ourselves - and our passion project Mica-Mica was born.

The courage to start anew

From the kitchen table to your own studio

With the birth of our second daughter, Lea , we mustered all our courage . I quit my secure job , and Michael and I worked on the first designs at the kitchen table in the evenings.

We looked for printing companies , but the material was never quite right. We wanted PVC-free fabric—matte, soft, and full of possibilities . So there was only one option left: we did it ourselves . We bought our first plotter , taught ourselves how to print, and learned something new every step of the way.

Today we no longer work at the kitchen table, but in our own studio in the heart of the Taunus region - and still put just as much heart and soul into every single wall decal .

The name Mica-Mica

A song, a moment, an inspiration

Mica-Mica means “shine, shine” - inspired by the nursery rhyme that our older daughter Livia sang to her little sister Lea to calm her down.
